Historic Bronzeville Neighborhood
Bronzeville Area Residents & Commerce Council (BARCC) will host its 10thAnnual Bike Tour event with pit stops for history, music, fun and food
Chicago, Illinois, June 11, 2013 – Saturday June 29, 2013 will mark the 10th anniversary of the Bronzeville Area Residents & Commerce Council (BARCC) Historic Bronzeville Annual Bike Tour. Beginning at 8:00 AM with registration and stretching, bikers will ride a 16-mile course through Historic Bronzeville starting at 51st and King Boulevard and ending around 1:00 PM at the same starting location with what the founders call,“The After Party”. “Our bike tour is a combination of ‘Taste of Chicago’, the DuSable Museum and a Mini-tour de-cure”, said, founder Mell Monroe, owner of the Welcome Inn, a prominent Bed and Breakfast located in Bronzeville and 15 minutes from Chicago’s Loop. The 16-mile ride has stops at historic sites complete with narration, music, and local eateries. This is a special opportunity to meet other history, cycle and foodie enthusiasts.
The Bronzeville Area Residents' & Commerce Council (BARCC) is a non-profit organization with over 3,000 members serving homeowners, condominium owners, renters and commerce enterprises in Chicago's Historic Bronzeville neighborhood. BARCC’s mission is to create and maintain a safe, clean, enjoyable neighborhood for families to live and businesses to thrive. During the stops cyclists will hear music and recorded speeches by historically famous residents like Nat “King” Cole, Eta Moten Barnett, Minnie Riperton and Louis Armstrong.
