7% TAX CONTINUE TO GAIN SUPPORT

"It's a crisis."
Mayor Richard M. Daley,
Chicago Tribune, 1/5/07

Up-date:

In a letter published Monday, April 9th, Mayor Daley called for the passage of the 7%.
In his letter the Mayor states that "many Chicago homeowners, especially those who can least afford to pay, will receive property tax bills this fall that are hundreds or thousands of dollars higher than last year's. The cap has expired, and unless the General Assembly passes a new one before the current session ends, residential property taxes across the Chicago will go up an average of 42%, according to the Civic Federation, possibly forcing some people out of their homes."

YOUR CALL TO ACTION!

Phone Mayor Daley and thank him for his continued effort to get the 7% renewed. Ask him to call Speaker Mike Madigan and "encourage" the Speaker to find the votes and pass the 7% before it is too late!
